Pinball Famous

Pinball Famous, Mixed Media Art by
Tiltcycle (Dan Burfield)

Inspired by the work of Andy Warhol, Burfield combines his passion for upcycling pinball and arcade machines with his love for pop icons and repurposed commercial art. The exhibit features an extraordinary sense of creativity, ingenuity and artistic intelligence fused into a breathtaking collection of layered, 3D collages. The Pinball Famous series showcases idols such as Twiggy, Diana Ross, The Rolling Stones, Dolly Parton, Ziggy Stardust, Audrey Hepburn, Lady Gaga, Cher, Lost Boys, Valley of the Dolls, Pam Grier, Isabella Rossellini, BVLGARI and Tiffany & Co. The selfie wall and free play Lord of the Rings pinball machine will remain for the entire run of the show.

Artist Statement: My work evokes nostalgia and reminds one of a joyful past. Combining the old with the new, it directs the viewer’s attention to long forgotten beauty now slated for the landfill. My mission is to preserve and rescue and to leave a legacy of beauty revived. Through the repurpose of broken and discarded materials, I challenge the viewer to focus on the details and in doing so, reassign their value to art. – Dan Burfield
