Cafe

the cafe story

From August 2015 to 2017 we ran the Koolkat Cafe.  We served delicious panini sandwiches and desserts from Enrico Biscotti, Gourmet Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, Soup from Evelyn’s Elegant Edible’s, Coffee and Cappacino and a long list of amazing in house products. It was fun but oh so much work and business was one huge roller coaster ride.  In 2017 we decided the cafe would be better off being run by someone else.

what is going on in the cafe now?

We are currently pursuing a new concept for the cafe. We would like to turn it into an cafe operated by  training people with intellectual disabilities.  We are currently in discussion with organizations that support job training in Allegheny County, and several large local business to accomplish our goal. Since this is a logistically difficult concept it is taking longer than anticipated to make it work.  Keep checking back and hopefully more news will be forthcoming!

is the cafe for rent?

Yes! The cafe is available for private events. Pricing for 2-4 hour daytime events is a flat $200. Nonprofit events may receive reduced pricing. This does not include anything except your use of the space with your own setup and cleanup.  Evening rentals vary depending on staff availability and the nature of your event.  If you are interested in renting the cafe, please email us at artmsithspgh@gmail.com, Subject Cafe Rental, or call us at 412-341-2299 x2.
